This policy explains what DriftPeak collects, why, and what you can turn off. In short: we keep as little as we can, we do not sell your personal data, and you do not need an account to ride — only to appear on the leaderboards.
What we collect
Automatically, when you play
- Device model and operating system version
- App version, language and region
- IP address (used to deliver the service and prevent abuse)
- Crash reports and performance data such as frame rate and load times
Your runs
- Score, distance in metres and run duration
- Personal bests and daily bests
- Number of runs and session length
- Chosen rider and board
- Control settings: touch or tilt, and sensitivity
Game Center and multiplayer
Leaderboards and multiplayer sessions use Apple's Game Center (GameKit). When you are signed in, DriftPeak works with:
- Your Game Center alias — the display name other riders see on the daily board and in a session
- Your Game Center player identifier, used to attach scores to the right player and to match you into a session
- Session data while a run is live: your position on the slope, speed and progress, shared with the other riders in that session so you can see each other
Game Center is operated by Apple, and your use of it is covered by Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive your Apple ID, email address or contacts. Live session data is used to run the session and is not kept as a permanent record of where you rode.
What we never collect
- Your name, postal address or phone number
- Precise GPS location
- Contacts, photos, microphone or camera
- Payment card details — the app store handles all payments
Why we use it
- To save your progress, settings and personal bests
- To rank runs on the daily and all-time leaderboards
- To put you into a multiplayer session and keep it in sync
- To find and fix crashes, and to keep the frame rate steady on your device
- To tune terrain difficulty and handling using aggregate run data
- To detect impossible scores and keep the boards honest
- To check whether you have an active Pro subscription
Services we rely on
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| Apple Game Center (GameKit) | Leaderboards, achievements and multiplayer matchmaking |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status and restore purchases |
| App Store / Google Play | Payments, billing history and refunds |
| Crash and analytics tooling | Crash reports, stability and aggregate usage measurement |
| Mobile ad network (free version only) | Serving ads between runs |
These providers only receive what they need to do their job, and are not permitted to use it for their own unrelated purposes. Each has its own privacy policy.
Advertising
The free version shows ads between runs. Ad partners may use an advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android), coarse country-level location, and ad interaction data such as views and taps. On iOS you will be asked before any tracking identifier is used, and you can change your answer at any time in your device's privacy settings.
DriftPeak Pro removes ads entirely. No advertising data is collected from Pro riders.
Where your data lives
- Progress, settings and unlocks are stored on your device first.
- If iCloud or Google Play Games sync is on, a copy is kept in your own cloud account so your runs follow you between devices.
- Leaderboard scores and your alias are stored with Game Center so they can be shown to other players.
- Data in transit is encrypted using standard protocols.
- We do not sell personal data to anyone.
No system is perfectly secure. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep it
- Daily leaderboard entries are kept for the day they belong to, then archived or cleared.
- Local progress stays on your device until you delete the app or reset your progress in Settings.
- Cloud-synced data stays in your iCloud or Google account until you delete it there.
- Crash and analytics data is kept in aggregate form for up to 24 months.
- Billing records are held by the app store under its own policy.
Your choices
- Turn off analytics sharing in Settings.
- Turn off cloud sync in Settings to stop backing up progress.
- Sign out of Game Center to stop posting scores and to leave multiplayer.
- Opt out of personalised ads in your device's privacy settings, or subscribe to Pro to remove ads.
- Reset your progress in Settings to clear local run data.
- Delete the app to stop all collection.
- Ask us to delete your leaderboard entries and any data we hold by emailing the address below.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how it is used, request a copy in a portable format, or withdraw consent. Write to us and we will act on it — normally within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
DriftPeak is suitable for all ages and there is nothing in it that is unsuitable for younger players. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country) without parental consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will remove it. Parents can disable Game Center and in-app purchases using Screen Time or Family Link.
International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where data protection law may differ. When we transfer data we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep it protected.
Changes to this policy
We will post any updates on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
